They told me to go home and die, I would not.
Pulmonary Fibrosis Controversy in the United States!
My name is Jerry Smith and I am a survivor of Idiopathic
Pulmonary Fibrosis. This lung disease is considered worldwide to be
untreatable, incurable and the cause is unknown. While Pulmonary Fibrosis is almost always
referred to as a disease, the word pulmonary refers to the heart and lungs.
Fibrosis refers to the thickening and scarring of the lungs. Therefore the lungs lose their ability to
transfer oxygen into the bloodstream. As a result, the brain and other organs
don’t receive the oxygen they need. Pulmonary Fibrosis is not a disease but a
resulting condition of a disease. The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation currently
estimates a survival of two to three years following diagnosis. There is very
little research being done in the U.S. It is my opinion that since doctors and
researchers don’t know the causes, it is almost impossible to research for a
cure. It is my opinion that there are too many different causes to determine
what to research. I believe that I.P.F. is an “Auto Immune” related disease. The
Auto Immune can be attacked by what we eat, drink and breathe. So where do we begin?
I was diagnosed with this disease in 2004, at the age of
64. I had a chest x-ray that revealed
spots on my lungs. After cat scans, an MRI and PFT, a pulmonary function test,
it was diagnosed as I.P.F. After my diagnosis, I had a lung biopsy in the
hospital and it was sent to the Mayo clinic’s laboratory in Phoenix, Az. where
my condition was confirmed. The PFT test is breathing into a computer inside a
glass booth to measure the lung capacity and the lung diffusion rate. The lung diffusion rate measures the amount
of oxygen pumped into the blood stream. This is how oxygen is fed to all parts
of the body. The amount of oxygen the body receives affects body performance,
every part from muscles to the brain. My lung capacity was 63%. My pulmonary
doctor told me that I had a “Death Sentence” with an estimated six months to
live. Since there wasn’t any medicine or treatment for it, that Friday night,
all I could do was go home and wait for the end.
Why Your Cure May Have
To Come From Overseas— And American Doctors Will Try To Stop You!
American's
often assume that they have access to the best level of health care in the
world.
When
they walk into a doctor's office, whether that doctor is a general practitioner
or a specialist, the chronic pain patient feels assured that the doctor standing
before them knows about and has access to all the latest advances in medicine,
can properly diagnose them and prescribe the most appropriate treatment
known. I'm sad to say that this is not true.
For many
reasons, numerous therapies that are approved and effectively used in countries
around the world are unknown, untried or even banned in the United States.
Consequently, more and more people are seeking treatment outside the United
States. I am just one example.
Determined not to give up, I sought the help of
a doctor in Germany, was cured of this disease and now in 2012, at age 72, I am
alive and well. My story reveals why your cure from diseases, chronic
muscle and joint pain may also have to come from overseas.
That Friday night I began searching the
internet for any help that I could find, including medicine, treatment, cures,
doctors treating P.F. patients and/or cures. Then I found a Dr. Horst Kief in
Germany who had had his own laboratory for over twenty five years and done
extensive research of all types of cancers with increasing numbers of cures.
Doctor
Kief requested I send him 20 cc’s of my blood to be analyzed. I then went to
eight different doctors in my area, all of whom refused to work with me. Their
comments ran from "What do you want to do with the blood? This is outside
of the AMA 'box', a waste of your time and money," to "Its voodoo
medicine."
I
finally found a homeopathic doctor in Fort Worth, Texas who took my blood. That
blood was sent to Germany. After months of analyzing it, Dr. Kief created an
eight month’s supply of serum and I sent him 200 cc’s of my blood to mix with
the serum. He then processed that serum through an Ozone-Oxidation machine and I
was able to travel to Germany to pick up my serum and instructions.
After using
the serum, my lung capacity stopped dropping and the doctor prepared another
eight month’s supply of serum. The doctor tweaked the second batch and made it
stronger. By the time that I had finished the second batch, my doctor in
Germany declared that I was totally cured. I went to see my pulmonary doctor
here and he assured me that I was in total remission and that was June, 2008. I
was left with permanent damage to my lungs with a forty percent loss of lung
capacity. My question to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and the medical
profession is, if I.P.F. is incurable and there is only two to three year life
expectancy, then how do you explain that I am alive almost nine years after my
diagnosis.
I
contacted the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Chicago and the Coalition for
Pulmonary Fibrosis in California, organizations that work to prove or disprove
medical claims. After giving them numerous medical records, including the
hospital lung biopsy and a letter from my doctor stating I was cured, they informed
me that I was either lying or misdiagnosed. I finally arranged for them to talk
to Dr. Kief in Germany, but neither organization ever contacted the doctor.
There
are statistics that show there are currently 200,000 pulmonary fibrosis
patients in the United States and 138,000 individuals in Europe, with
approximately 45,000 new patients yearly and about 40,000+ patients dying
yearly in this country.. There are about the same number of people dying from
pulmonary fibrosis annually as women dying from breast cancer. And yet
everybody is aware of breast cancer but almost no one has heard of pulmonary
fibrosis. Today there isn’t any funding and not much research being done for
pulmonary fibrosis. Even today, weekly emails that I receive from the Pulmonary
Fibrosis Foundation, headquartered in Chicago, Il, claim that there still isn’t
any known cause or cure for this disease.
A recent
development- THE PULMONARY FIBROSIS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES
INTERNATIONAL PATIENT SUPPORT GROUP INITIATIVE AND GLOBAL PULMONARY FIBROSIS
AWARENESS DAY SEPTEMBER 29, 2012.
The
workshop will take place in Modena, Italy. It will address why Idiopathic
pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) has an average survival of only 2-3 years following
diagnosis and that there is no known cause and no cure for IPF. There also is
no FDA-approved treatment for IPF in the U.S. and very limited therapeutic
options available for a subset of individuals with IPF in the EU and Asia.
